Freeing People from Oppression
There are too many places in the world where people are oppressed or misstreated because their religious beliefs differ from that of the ruling government. I put forward a draft proposal as a starting point for discussion, and action. It is unjust that any human being suffer physical harm, torture, or deprivation of liberty purely because they hold a belief different to the government under which they were born. Crimes against humanity happen all to frequently in nations around the world and it must stop within our generation. We need laws to protect future generations. Governments must respect the rights of all of their citizens, and give equality of education, and opportunity, and allow freedom of religion, and protect the rights of those groups with in their communities.
Points to Consider
Governments Must
- Provide equal opportunity in regard to education for all citizens who choose to live in their country of birth
- Not abuse the basic rights of minority religious groups, via violence, theft or murder, or intimidation, for God is a good God and does good to all his works.
- Not force any person to do things they see as contry to their belief, as long as the belief protects the rights of its citizens, laws should be for the good of all, as an example laws can not be in place to prevent a Muslum from wearing their head scalf in public which is commanded by thier laws
- Must not execute their citizens if they change faith, which is taught by some Islamic clerics but rather allow for their judgment to be determined by God at the end of the age, for no one is perfect. It is my opinion that nations should follow God's principals of mercy as taught by Jesus. Which were show in the following story: and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" ... When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." ... At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared.
- The United Nations should be given power to enforce these laws in a similar way to any other International Law, if there are abuses of power. Nations that have strong Muslum beliefs that disallow conversions to other religions must offer safe passage of these people, and their families, to other nations, rather than executions and must prevent such acts by its citizens. Nations must be willing, and most are, to recieve people in these situations. To prevent false imigration governments must state that a person is being deported becasue of their faith, and the sending government must be satisfied that the person is actually telling the truth. The recieving government can not reject the person if they have been exiled by the other nation. In regard to exiles a person or people group can not be exiled if they wish to stay in their country, and must be protected by the ruleing power.
These are just my initial thoughts. But by the power and grace of God in our generation we can see the end of oppression and violence against minority groups as Nations work together to the common goal of protecting the rights of all people. For God created us all equal, with the basic right to be loved cared for and respected. For as the bible says God himself is Love. We should follow the command of Jesus to love one another. The world needs love not violence and oppression. We must all do our part to ensure all people recieve kindness. There was a story in the bible where a prophet of God captured an army that came against Israel by the power of God alone. When the king saw it, he said "Should we slay them, my master". To which he replied, "No give them food and something to drink", treat them kindly, and send them back to their master. We must treat our enemies with kindness no matter what they intended to do to us. People are only ever our enemies becasue they think we are evil. I would like to take a moment to ask nations that have political prisioners to consider releasing the as a gesture of international good will. And in future do all that is possible to change that persons mind set by doing the good to them and their nations by doing the following
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. ... Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good
